DJ Lusiman

Melusi “Lusiman” Khanyile, born in Amaotana (inside Inanda) and grew up in Umlazi (Durban). He’s a passionate, self-trained gqom producer and a club DJ, who started his producing skills around 2004. He believes that he was born with music in his blood. In his early days of crèche, he would have his suitcase and two toothbrushes with him which he use to drum the suitcase. He got interested in music by the time he was playing songs by Mdu “The godfather” Masilela, TKZee, Thebe and Mawillies.

He went to Spearman Road Primary School and matriculated in Durban Academy High School. Around 2008 he started gaining recognition by producing songs for dancers all around Durban to compete in the dancer’s competition. He loves live music, orchestral, bands and acapella. Local producers he looks up to are Black Coffee, DJ Clock, DJ Cleo, DJ Tira, Sir Bubzin, Kususa and Black Motion. He’s also the founder of LMP Entertainment (Lusiman’s Production), which is a record label and an entertainment company which consists of 10 artists. LMP Entertainment is more like an institution of music because they recruit amateur artists and they evolve into recognised artists.

DJ Lusiman is family to Afrotainment and did tracks with the likes of DJ Tira, DJ Cndo, Sir Bubzin, Mluh be there, Bhar, AfroBoyz, Big Nuz, Emza just to name a few. He believes that his music brings joy, excitement and happiness to people who listens to it.

He Studied at Mangosuthu University of Technology studying Surveying Engineering and graduated in 2016. DJ Lusiman has young upcoming artists that he teaches or grooms music, one of them (Figo Da Dope from Tembisa, Jozi) has already got himself a record deal at Herbal 3 Records owned by Aero Manyelo. DJ Lusiman is a fast learner who loves challenges, working with other artists, producers and musicians. He also believes that the room available for improvement is to infinity, now imagine what you can do and how much experience you can get in one year.

His biggest wish is not to forget his parents, family, fans, friends and mostly the creator. He would like to see people not giving up towards their dreams and strive for them. He believes that struggle brings out the success inside you.
